Latvian, Danish leaders discuss security, cooperation

RIGA, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics met with visiting King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark here on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations, defense cooperation, security in the Baltic Sea region, and Ukraine situation.

Rinkevics said relations between Latvia and Denmark are based on a shared commitment to regional security and prosperity.

He praised close cooperation between the two countries' defense industries and noted significant potential for collaboration in quantum engineering, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence.

During their two-day state visit to Latvia, the Danish royal couple are also scheduled to meet with Parliament Speaker Daiga Mierina and Prime Minister Evika Silina.
