OSLO, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Norwegian government announced Friday it will increase defence-related spending to 5 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP).
"We must do more to keep our country safe and contribute to our collective security together with our Allies in NATO," Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said in a statement.
Norway's defence spending is expected to reach 3.3 percent of GDP in 2025. The government plans to consult the parliament this autumn on how to reach the new target.
